Mowing your New Lawn

It is important to fight the temptation to mow your new lawn until it is established. This usually takes two to three weeks. Once you cannot pull up the sod, it is safe to mow. Mowers with high lift blades create enough lift to pull the unanchored sod into the blades, cutting up all your hard work. Mow height is best around 1 to 1½ inches. In the heat of the summer, cutting a little higher helps conserve moisture in the ground.
